Sequoia National Park

Today was one of the greatest days of my life. And that says a lot because Yahweh has blessed me with a great life.

I got a chance to see something I’ve been wanting to see for years. The biggest trees in the world. They did not underwhelm. I was able to be completely in the moment and respark some childlike wonder. By myself, but I was not alone. As cheesy and cliche as it sounds, I truly had Jesus in the passenger seat. He guided me through His creation and led me to meet some really cool people. The one that stands out the most, I’m not totally convinced he wasn’t an angel.

I found the coolest tree off the beaten path that was so huge it had 4 separate rooms inside of it! Literal rooms that felt like a cave, 3 of the 4 I could stand up in and not even touch the ceiling with my hand. It was so exciting I showed about 7 different groups of people. Most of them did not reciprocate the level of joy and awe I had for this tree. If anything they seemed weary that some stranger was leading them into the woods. It wasn’t until I met a 78 year old man and his huge group of about 10 people who had so much fun exploring this tree with me it made it all worth it. He not only climbed this mountain to get to it, but he explored the inside of this tree with a level of enthusiasm I only saw in the young children. He was so thankful that he gave me a gift, one of the best gifts you can give another man. A story.

He told me the story of when his son passed away at 22 years old. He was murdered and then they stole his car. Months before, he was asking his father what eternity looked like. The man didn’t know how to answer him. It wasn’t until 6 years later, while working in his shop, the Spirit spoke to him. Undeniable and out of nowhere He told this man eternity was like “an unending day spent with your best friend”. I love this picture. I’ve never heard this explanation of eternity before, it’s beautiful. I believe that there is truth to this realization. We parted with a final word, “I’ll see you there!” I didn’t catch his name, names exchanged didn’t feel necessary. There was an understanding instantly when I met him that we both had the light of the Lord within us. This bond felt stronger than the need to share our names here on earth. It’s slightly strange because we spent the most time, out of any group I showed the tree to, with him and every other group I got their names and where they were from. This simple interaction was priceless.

I could go on to describe how I drove up and down the whole park twice, how large these trees were, or the incredible views I got to experience, but words will never do the sights justice. Pictures hardly do it. I can tell you though how just as fast thoughts came about work, or where I’m going next, or the podcast I’m filming on the 5th, they were captured and thrown out at the same speed. Today was about being in the now. No schedule, no plans. Driving down the road with the windows down, music blasting, getting out to explore when I got curious. No money was made and it was still a great success. This is what life is really all about. Being WITH the Lord in His creation. I know life can’t always be great and times get tough but today… today was perfect.
