FREEDOM IS HAVING NO OTHER OPTION

I’ve told this to my friends before, leaving them in a state of confusion. The concept that only having one option sounds like the opposite of freedom right?

I propose that when we have well defined lines drawn of what we are willing and not willing to do, this cements our legacy and who we are. When Gods way is the only way, life becomes much more free than living a life of drifting from one carnal desire to the other.

For example: I think we can all agree if somebody offered you to take a hit of meth, you would very quickly say no and get out of there as soon as possible. So how do people become meth addicts? They didn’t have that line drawn with certainty. They were offered and thought, “well I’ve never thought about it, why not? I’m open to new experiences”

They become a slave to the drug. Ruining their life, their loved ones lives, and their mind. Although they did what they want, now they are stuck in unforeseen slavery to their crystal master. I believe this is an extreme example of what happens when we accidentally or unknowingly do anything that Yahweh doesn’t want us to do. Words we speak, sex, what we idolize, time spent doing what is getting us to where we don’t want to go. It’s a slow burn but it will leave you empty and wondering “how did I get here?”

The focus for 2024 is to become a man of integrity. Having a natural inclination to be spontaneous, often times in the past I would jump at any “fun” opportunity that came along my path. This lead to a life of shackles; depression, anxiety and immense lack of peace. As soon as I committed to have Gods way be the only way, I find myself living a life of yes being my yes, no being my no. Doing what I say I will do. Resisting temptation of sin I swore off. It’s also a slow burn, but resulted in a noticeable clarity of mind, heightened energy, deeper relationships, peace and joy.

I am not holier than anybody, quite the contrary. We are the worst of sinners, yet God has given us blessings and favor for our faith in Him. Keep on spreading the good news. Everyday we get closer to our goal of permanent purity. Closer to that sabbath day rest we are promised. Closer to perfection, not by our own doing, but by Yahwehs grace alone. Seek Him with every bit of energy you have after a long days work. For it is pressure & time that forms a diamond. One day He will pull us out of the dirt and cut us to adorn on His crown.

You know there’s this old country song that goes:

“I’m just an old chunk of coal, but imma be a diamond someday”

We can try all we want to do that on our own, and it very well may be possible. I believe the easiest and most effective way is to live a life of service to the Lord and others. Give up control and we will receive the blessings of freedom.
